The story broke early Sunday morning about actor Kevin Hart and 3 others who were involved in a single car accident. The accident happened on the dangerous Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles at about 1am. The actor was initially taken home by his Manager and later taken to the hospital with spinal injuries requiring surgery. It’s worth noting that earlier the same day a neighbor complained to Hart about laying down “Too much rubber” on the street, a reference to speed.
We hear from victims daily about how fast things can happen while driving and the devastating consequences that result. Driving in excess of the posted speed limit can be a source of fun for some and cause life altering consequences for others. While the reports have not been filed it appears speed and road conditions may be partially at fault in this crash. Obeying the posted speed limit while ignoring road conditions can lead to devastating injuries to drivers and others.
Whenever you are driving always be aware of your surroundings including road conditions and potential hazards. Make sure your passengers are seat belted and practice defensive driving. Don’t drive when when you’re overly tired, don’t drive when you have been drinking… even a little and remain passive. Florida has a saying on their license plates “Arrive Alive.” It’s good advice.
