The investigation into the Tiger Woods crash has revealed the primary causes boils down to excessive speed and unsafe driving for the conditions. The onboard data recorder contained within the SUV woods was driving recorded speeds between 68 and 86.99 mph in a posted 45 mph zone before woods failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The crash badly injured the golf legend. This was at least the third mysterious motor vehicle crash for Woods.
LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said there is no evidence Woods was impaired or intoxicated before the crash. The Sheriff said investigators didn’t check to see if woods was texting before the crash and said there was no need to do so. There are no plans to issue Woods a citation for reckless driving simply because that would require evidence of multiple violations before the crash such as unsafe lane changes or passing other cars unsafely. The Sheriff adamantly denied that Woods received favorable treatment in this investigation and Woods consented to the release of the accident investigation data.
