A Texas man was killed and a Sacramento man injured and transferred to the hospital as the result of a golf cart crash. The Placerville Office of the CHP responded and is investigating this incident. The crash happened at Apple Mountain Golf Resort in Apple Hill on the 10th fairway.
Investigators have determined a 44 year old Texas man was driving the golf cart down the golf cart path at an unsafe speed when he attempted to transition onto a bridge. During the attempted transition the driver of the cart lost control and crashed through the bridge railing and into the creek below. The driver of the cart was ejected and sustained fatal injuries while the passenger suffered minor injuries. The CHP says alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the incident.
Every driver has a responsibility to drive in an unimpaired manner and that applies to driving while boating and even driving while golfing. Injuries and death can happen with unsafe speed or when driving intoxicated and when the driver is potentially guilty of both the results can be tragic as we see in this case. Slowing down and being responsible with the intake of any amount of alcohol is critical and may save your life or the life of another.
